The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Friday morning announced it removed five electronic logging devices from its list of registered devices.
The devices were placed on FMCSA’s Revoked Devices list due to the companies’ failure to meet the minimum requirements established in the ELD regulations, the agency noted.
The five revoked devices:
- Premium ELD from Art Kilim Inc., model number PMM
- True Logbook from Clean Aura Corp., model number 2TRUL
- Xplore ELD from Xplore Tech Inc., model number XPLELD
- Kami ELD from Kami ELD, model number KAME-X456
- Evo ELD from Evo ELD, model number EVO 1
Questions about what users might expect for these devices' potential future return to the registered list were sent to the five companies offering the ELDs, yet went unanswered as of press time.

Motor carriers and drivers using them have up to 60 days to replace the revoked devices with compliant ELDs, FMCSA ntoed. Those using the de-listed devices must:
- Discontinue using the revoked ELD and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours of service data.
- Replace the revoked ELD with a compliant ELD from the Registered Devices list before Dec. 16.
Before Dec. 16, carriers and drivers will not be cited with a violation for using the devices, but after that date, those who continue to use them will be considered as operating without an ELD, a violation most often recorded as a no-logbook violation.
If the ELD providers correct all identified deficiencies for their devices, FMCSA will place the ELD back on the list of registered devices and inform the industry of the update, the agency said.
The latest revocations come in the wake of FMCSA signaling last month that it would will take a tougher approach to vetting ELD providers for adherence to standards/data manipulation capabilities. Speaking at the Guilty by Association Truck Show in Joplin, MIssouri, as previously reported, FMCSA Senior Policy Advisor Michael Hampton emphasized the agency was well aware "there are folks out there who have these ELDs in which they are able to be manipulated, and we need to ensure that we’re going to enhance the vetting process of ELDs.”
