A Geotab reseller partner has acquired a large portfolio of mixed fleets from Shell Fleet Solutions with its acquisition of Shell Telematics.
Scottsdale, Arizona-based telematics and data solutions provider Gridline Inc. said in a news release that the company aims to expand its marketshare and capabilities with this transaction.
“This acquisition is a critical component of our strategic growth plan, reinforcing our commitment to delivering best-in-class telematics solutions while driving shareholder value. By integrating Shell Telematics, we are poised to accelerate our market expansion and enhance profitability,” said Gridline co-founders Justin Moyer and Scott Tenney in a joint statement.
The acquisition enhances Gridline’s service offerings and enables the company to capitalize on emerging trends in fleet management, including the shift toward renewable energy and advanced data analytics.
The deal also comes with a collaboration between Gridline and Shell in which Gridline gains access to Shell’s established customer base, and Shell customers receive access to Gridline’s enhanced data capabilities. A non-exclusive referral agreement between the two companies will open new revenue streams by offering Shell clients access to Gridline’s telematics services. In addition, Gridline’s clients will be offered access to Shell’s fleet card products.
“As long-standing partners to both Gridline and Shell, we see this acquisition as a way to build even greater value and support for their customers,” said Geotab Chief Revenue Officer Louis De Jong.” Through this agreement, the partnership will offer customers advanced tools to enhance fleet performance, improve sustainability efforts, and drive efficiencies across their operations."
Gridline builds software solutions of its own, including driver apps, an analytics platform, compliance, etc., on top of Geotab's platform that fleets can use regardless of who their reseller is. The company works with some of the largest distribution, food and beverage, construction and service fleets in the nation.
