00:00 This week’s CCJ Tech Shorts features a partnership that provides connectivity for driverless trucks, a carrier identity solution’s integration with a TMS and more.
00:22 Kodiak’s driverless trucking solutions will now have Verizon connectivity and IoT data capabilities. This comes via a partnership between Verizon Business and Kodiak AI, a provider of AI-powered autonomous vehicle technology.
The Kodiak Driver, Kodiak’s AI-powered virtual driver, incorporates technology that allows a human to provide remote assistance to a vehicle in certain low-speed and clearly defined scenarios that benefit from human involvement. This “assisted autonomy” capability is enabled by Verizon partner Vay Technology, which provides automotive-grade remote driving technology.
Verizon connectivity allows Kodiak’s driverless vehicles to communicate with Assisted Autonomy drivers and send mission-critical communication between vehicles and command centers with low latency over long distances in remote environments.
This collaboration leverages Verizon’s 5G and LTE networks, IoT telematics and ThingSpace management platform to help fill Kodiak’s need for advanced data capabilities. Use cases include over-the-air software updates, seamless remote fleet management, and skilled remote assistance for Kodiak’s long-haul trucking and industrial operations.
01:33 Highway, a technology provider specializing in carrier identity solutions for freight brokers, has entered its first-ever integration with a carrier-based transportation management system, Carrier1.
This partnership extends Highway’s secure identity infrastructure deeper into the carrier ecosystem, giving Carrier1 users a faster, safer and more seamless way to onboard and authenticate within their platform.
Carrier1 expects to expand its use of Highway beyond onboarding and sign-in. Future plans include support for asset management, connections to electronic logging devices, and TFX tools that connect carrier capacity to Highway network partners. These updates are intended to give carriers more control over their data, equipment and business relationships.
02:18 ITS Logistics is preparing automakers and Tier-1 suppliers for 2026 challenges with technology.
One of its solutions is the expansion of its universal drop trailer and trailer pool program, DropFleet, which is powered by an AI-enabled asset management system. The solution enables seamless yard operations with grab, load, go anywhere capabilities while maintaining real-time visibility and integration within both ITS and customer systems.
DropFleet also supports rapid load recovery when disruptions occur by allowing equipment to be redeployed across the network without introducing gaps in tracking or control, protecting production schedules even when exceptions arise.
