Terion Inc., Melbourne, Fla., announced that it will focus on its FleetView mobile asset tracking and communications business, phase out its Mobile Cab Communications business and market Qualcomm’s driver messaging system. Terion will resell Qualcomm’s OmniTRACS and OmniExpress systems to Terion’s existing driver-messaging customer base for a limited time.

Terion also named Ken Cranston president. Cranston had served as Terion’s vice president of sales and marketing.

“As a result of market conditions in the trucking sector and after an exhaustive review of Terion’s core strengths and goals for the future,” Cranston stated, “we have determined that our resources are better utilized by capitalizing on the success of our FleetView product.”

Since the January 2000 launch, Terion has sold approximately 80,000 FleetView units and some 50,000 units are in service, with the remainder scheduled for installation.
