Volvo recalls trucks with passenger-side bench seats
Volvo Trucks North America is recalling certain trucks built between April 5, 2017, and Oct. 20, 2023, with a passenger side bench seat.
The recall includes approximately 638 model year 2018-’24 Volvo VN, VNR and VHD trucks, in which the passenger side bench seat may be inadequately attached to the floor, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 207, "Seating Systems" and 210, "Seatbelt Assembly Anchorage."
In the affected trucks, the attachment points for the bench seat may fail, allowing it to shift and increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Dealers will replace the weld nut with two nuts and a washer, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 15. Owners can contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586 with recall number RVXX2312. NHTSA’s recall number is 23V-769.

Trucking Cares Foundation donates to Center for Employment Training
The American Trucking Associations' Trucking Cares Foundation recently donated $25,000 to the Center for Employment Training, an organization that provides education and hands-on training to individuals seeking employment in high-demand fields.
CET is an economic and community development corporation that promotes human development and education by providing people with marketable skills training and supportive services that contribute to self-sufficiency. The organization operates a dozen locations and offers technical training for positions in a wide variety of fields, from truck drivers and mechanics to medical assistants and child care workers.
“CET’s mission is to equip individuals with skills that will enable them to obtain careers leading to self-sufficiency in high-demand occupations and prepare them for a lifetime of success,” said TCF Chairman Phil Byrd, president and CEO of Bulldog Hiway Express. “Through this donation, the Trucking Cares Foundation hopes to open the door of opportunity to more young people seeking economic independence and rewarding careers in the trucking industry.”
