Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America continues to gauge North American interest in its Fuso eCanter all-electric truck by taking the vehicle to various trade shows across North America.
The truck’s latest stop will be at the GIE+Expo 2016 Oct. 20-21 at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville.
Mitsubishi Fuso reports that following a year of testing the eCanter generated a 64 percent savings in operating costs compared to a diesel truck.
Mitsubishi Fuso recently announced during the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show in Hannover, Germany, that it will start a small production run of vehicles for several markets around the world, including the U.S. The company expects the first all-electric trucks to reach the U.S. in 2017.
The eCanter’s quiet 150-hp equivalent motor offers up 479 lb.ft. of torque. A 60-mile range makes the truck ideal for short, in-city hauls. The truck’s payload capacity is rated at 6,470 pounds.
A standard, 230-volt, 30-amp charger can charge the E-Cell in about seven hours. A proprietary charger rated at 290 volts and 100 amps can vastly reduce charge time to about an hour.
