FMCSA meetings to address sleep apnea, EOBRs, CSA, cross-border trucking

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has announced a joint meeting of the agency’s Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee and Medical Review Board on Monday, Aug. 29. MCSAC will continue to meet on Tuesday, Aug. 30-Wednesday, Aug. 31, with the afternoon of Aug. 31 being used for a meeting of the Cross-Border Trucking Pilot Program subcommittee. All three days of the meeting will be open to the public for their duration.

The MCSAC-MRB meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, and the MCSAC meeting will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 30 and 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET; the last hour of each day of the full committee meeting will be reserved for public comment. At 1:30 pm ET on Wednesday, Aug. 31, the MCSAC’s Cross-Border Trucking Pilot Program subcommittee will meet until 5 p.m. ET, with a public comment period from 4:30 to 5 p.m. ET. The meeting will be held at the Hilton
Alexandria Old Town, 1767 King St., in Alexandria, Va., in the Washington and Jefferson Rooms on the 2nd floor.

The MCSAC and MRB will consider expert presentations on obstructive sleep apnea during the joint meeting on Monday. On Tuesday, the MCSAC will consider the report of its Electronic On-Board Recorder (EOBR) Implementation Subcommittee, with relevant expert presentations on the topic. On Wednesday, the MCSAC will address roadside violation severity weightings in the Carrier Safety Measurement System in FMCSA’s Compliance Safety Accountability program. That afternoon, the MCSAC Subcommittee will meet to address matters related to the U.S.-Mexico cross-border trucking pilot program.
