The electric Kenworth T680E shown here at the Paccar Technical Center in Mount Verrnon, Wash. will be different from the T680E used next year in a 1 megawatt wireless charging demo. 'We needed to select a specific battery cell chemistry in order to handle the higher charging rate and minimize the cell degradation,' said Ryan Reed, Kenworth director of research and development. 'We expect batteries to continue to improve rapidly to better handle these high charge rates and survive the life of the vehicle.'
