The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reportedly has sued Pitt Ohio Express Inc., accusing the Pittsburgh-based trucking company of refusing to hire women as truck drivers and dockworkers at Ohio terminals. The Associated Press reported that the lawsuit, filed Friday, March 31 in federal court, accuses the company of hiring men over women equally or better qualified, alleging a pattern dating back to 1997.

According to the AP, the woman named in the lawsuit, Pamela Moher, applied for a job as a truck driver in Cleveland in July 2000. The commission, which is representing a group of more than 25 women in the lawsuit, says it attempted to resolve the matter out of court. The suit seeks back pay with interest for the women, plus damages.
