Southern Refrigerated Transport wants to nearly double its number of employees to 1,500, according to the Associated Press. The Texas-based business located between Texarkana and Hope is in its 20th year and has a new $17 million headquarters.

SRT, which relocated from Ashdown to its new home office in July, has 800 workers, including 625 drivers; its fleet includes about 600 tractors and 950 trailers. The company drew $2 million in state and local incentives for the new headquarters, the AP reported.

According to SRT’s website, the new headquarters includes a 40,000-square-foot building with office and driver facilities, and a 40,000-square-foot maintenance shop with 25 work bays, a fuel island and an automatic truck wash. The total area of the expansion is about 44 acres, SRT says, allowing it to support a 1,000-truck operation.
