The national average price of a gallon of diesel surged 4.6 cents for the week ending Monday, Nov. 13, the U.S. Department of Energy reported. The average price was $2.552, which still was 5 cents lower than the same time last year.

The one-week gain — only the second increase in the past 13 weeks — was the largest since a 7.5 cent jump in early August. All regions — including the East Coast, Midwest, Gulf Coast, Rocky Mountain and West Coast — saw price increases. The Midwest saw the biggest increase, climbing nearly 7 cents to $2.562; the West Coast is paying the most, $2.673.
