Kevin Coombes has been promoted to key accounts manager for refuse and recycling collection vehicle manufacturer Heil Environmental. Coombes, a long-time Heil employee, is charged with increasing Heil’s market penetration with a strategic group of haulers and municipalities in the United States and Canada. He also will assist Heil regional managers and other key account managers with select customers.

Coombes joined Heil in 1980 in the cost accounting department. During the last 26 years, he has held a number of positions in customer service, sales and marketing; he has served as a regional sales manager, manager of a company-owned branch, and international sales manager. Coombes set up Heil’s customer service department in Fort Payne, Ala., and established a sales training program. He most recently was sales operations manager.

Coombes, who is active in the waste industry, has served as Heil’s Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC) representative since 2000, and has been on the organization’s board of governors for two years; he recently was reelected to the board through 2008. Coombes also represents Heil at a number of local, regional and national conferences and meetings annually.

“Kevin’s wealth of industry knowledge, experience and relationships make him an excellent resource for existing and potential Heil customers,” says Rich Bout, director of North American sales for Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Heil. “We are confident that he will be successful in this new role.”
