Canadian transportation firm TransForce Income Fund announced Thursday, Jan. 4, that it has completed its purchase of Westfreight Systems and Westfreight Holdings, a U.S. trucking company. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Westfreight, which was started in 1989, specializes in overdimensional and heavy-haul transportation services for the oil and gas industry, and also is a less-than-truckload and truckload van and flatbed service provider. The company’s primary service lanes are between the Texas and Oklahoma regions and Alberta, Canada.

TransForce says Lance Griffin, president of Westfreight, will continue to lead the company, which generates annual revenue of about $47 million.
