Roaring Spring, Pa.-based Smith Transport has named Brian Wyant as its 2006 Driver of the Year. He wins a new 2007 Freightliner Coronado.
In 2006, Wyant delivered 235 loads and drove his truck 139,000 miles with no service failures and no safety incidents. Wyant idled his truck only 4.1 percent of running time and had a 98 percent fuel-mileage compliance.
Wyant was Smith’s Driver of the Month in September 2006, putting him in the running for Driver of the Year.
In addition to the truck — which features a 430-hp Detroit Diesel engine, a 10-speed Eaton transmission and a Rigmaster auxiliary power unit — Wyant received a check for $1,500, two jackets, hats, a Smith Transport watch, a die-cast truck and gift cards to take his family to dinner.
