The federal committee charged with recommending improvements to the commercial driver’s license program has scheduled a series of meetings in Arlington, Va., just outside Washington, D.C. The last federal transportation funding act requires the CDL Advisory Committee to report to Congress by Aug. 7 any improvements that should be made.
The meetings will be March 20-22, April 17-19 and May 15-17 in the Hilton Arlington at 950 N. Stafford St. The committee will take public comments on March 22, April 19 and May 17 from 1 to 2 p.m. each day. Individuals wishing to address the committee should sign up before 11:30 a.m. each day, and no one will have more than 15 minutes. Any written comments and reports to be distributed to committee members should include 16 copies.
Meeting topics will include state enforcement practices, procedures to detect and deter fraud, adequate proof of citizenship and timely notification of CDL holders’ traffic and criminal convictions.
