A Pennsylvania trucking firm has agreed to pay a $30,000 fine because some of its above-ground oil storage tanks leaked, the state Department of Environmental Resources told the Associated Press on Tuesday, March 13.
An employee at Ergon Trucking Co. in East Lackawannock Township told the AP that he knew nothing of the violations, and that company officials might be able to comment in the future. But DEP officials said the company already has agreed to pay the fine for violations involving three 37,800-gallon tanks that date to 1998, the AP reported.
The tanks were not properly registered for eight years and were not installed by certified contractors before they leaked, regulators told the AP.
