Scott Sexton, an owner-operator leased to Second Chance Transport in Piedmont, S.C., was named the March 2007 ACS Multimedia Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month.

In December 2006, Sexton and his wife, Lisa, delivered a U-Haul truck filled with clothing, school supplies, playground equipment, water and many other items to an elementary classroom at Amanda E. Stout Elementary School in Reading, Penn.

Donations from families, friends and businesses in Greenville, S.C., made the gifts possible. Since the extra supplies included clothing ranging in sizes from infant to adult, the home/school coordinator at the school invited needy families to take what they needed.

Sexton also volunteers as a Trucker Buddy for fourth- and fifth-grade students at Mechanicsville Elementary School in Sykesville, Md. He joined the Trucker Buddy program in 2005.

Each Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month receives a personalized jacket, a check for $300 to spend on the class and $200 in Trucker Buddy merchandise, compliments of ACS MultiMedia Advertising. Each also receives an IdleAire adapter, a Koolatron cooler and a complete set of Airtabs for his tractor or trailer. As of January 2007, owner-operator honorees also receive a set of steer tires from Continental Tire. The honored driver’s class also receives a CrossCountry USA game from Ingenuity Works, which will help the students learn more about how trucks move freight across the continent.
