Telematics provider WebTech Wireless Inc. on Thursday, March 22, at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., introduced three new products. The company targets truck fleets with 100 or more vehicles, allowing them to track movement and driver performance.

WebTech and Iridium Satellite LLC are teaming to provide a tracking service that uses dual-mode cellular and satellite asset tracking for trucks. WebTech spokesman Ralph LoPilato says the WT1900 system offers seamless coverage for long-haul trucks in locations or instances where cellular phone service is faulty. Ideal companies for the product include military and weapons haulers who carry sensitive loads.

The Quadrant Enterprise allows company managers to fully track trucks within their fleet via installed onboard systems on trucks. The devices telecommunicate such information as GPS location, speed and idling to company managers, who use Internet-based servers to view the data.

The WebTech Power Line Control (PLC) Identification System tracks both tractors and multiple trailers. The system allows fleet managers to positively identify tractor and trailer pairings, and when tractors drop and pick up new trailers. The system can track a trailer to within 7 feet, says LaPilato.
