At the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., The National Association of Show Trucks and Truck-Lite presented Bob and Shelley Brinker the 2006 first-place trophy for their truck, “Legend of the Black Pearl.” The trophy was accompanied by a $5,000 check from Truck-Lite.
The Brinkers’ 2000 Freightliner Classic XL is decorated with murals from various pirate tales, a tribute to their late daughter who loved the Disney movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” The Brinkers qualified for the final competition by winning the Rumble By The River contest held last year in Monroe, Mich.
Second place and $3,000 was awarded to Ron Huey’s 2000 Silver International; his truck qualified at the Indy Air Show/Big Rig Cruise in Mt. Comfort, Ind. Other finalists included Pierre and Kerri Lee Cinq-Mars, Iron Bridge, Ontario, Canada; Rick Hitchcock, Webberville, Mich.; Billy Hopkins, Kaufman, Texas; and Joe Schmitt, Brillion, Wis.
The awards were presented by Tim Walker, Truck-Lite executive vice president of sales, Europe and Asia; and Brian Hitchcock, NAST president. Truck-Lite Trophy Series qualifying competitions will be held at seven locations throughout 2007. Additional information and a copy of the schedule can be found at www.nastshowtrucks.org.
