For the 17th year, employees at Volvo Trucks North America’s New River Valley plant in Dublin, Va., where all Volvo and Mack highway trucks in the United States are built, honored the fallen and missing of America’s military by joining the Rolling Thunder Ride for Freedom motorcycle rally to Washington, D.C., on Memorial Day weekend.

About 250 people gathered for a May 27 memorial ceremony at United Auto Workers Local 2069. Then, more than 200 riders — more than 100 of them plant employees — rode to Washington with two specially decorated trucks, a Volvo VN 670 and a Mack CH midrise sleeper.

The trucks, which featured the motto “All Gave Some … Some Gave All,” also promoted the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps severely injured veterans. Its website, www.woundedwarriorproject.org, says the charity was “founded on the principle that veterans are our nation’s greatest citizens.”
