Frost & Sullivan recently honored DriveCam Inc., a global driver risk management company, with the Frost & Sullivan 2007 North American Class 6-8 Truck Driving Behavior Monitoring and Safety Enhancement Systems Product Innovation Leadership of the Year Award.

The award is presented annually to the company that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technology within its industry. Frost & Sullivan recognized DriveCam for advancing the market for heavy-truck safety enhancement systems with its behavior-based risk mitigation solution.

DriveCam’s solution combines predictive software and analytics capabilities, tens of thousands of actual events demonstrating risky driving behaviors, and deep transportation and behavior-based safety experience.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration research indicates that the average cost of an accident caused by a large truck involving fatalities is about $3.4 million, while that of an accident involving injuries is $217,000.

“DriveCam Inc. recognized fleets’ need for a solution that would help them identify and correct risky driving behaviors that could result in accidents,” says Sandeep Kar, senior industry analyst for Frost & Sullivan. “DriveCam has propelled heavy-truck safety enhancement technologies to a new level with an effective risk management solution that enables commercial and government fleets across industries to proactively address risky driving behavior, increase the safety of their mobile work forces and reduce operating costs.”
