The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Advisory Committee will meet July 11-12 to consider issues presented at three earlier meetings and to review a draft report being prepared on behalf of the committee. The meeting, which is open to the public, is schedule for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days at the Hilton Arlington, 950 North Stafford Street, Arlington, Va.

Legislation enacted in August 2005 required FMCSA to establish a task force to study and address current impediments and likely challenges to the effectiveness of the CDL program. A report is due by Aug. 10, 2007. FMCSA held public meetings in March, April and May, and the CDL Advisory Committee will review a draft report at the July session.

Members of the advisory committee include state motor vehicle administrators, organizations representing government agencies or officials, members of the Judicial Conference, representatives of the trucking industry, representatives of labor organizations, and safety advocates.
