Fontaine Modification to install Carrier Transicold APUs

user-gravatar Headshot

Fontaine Modification becomes the largest single installer for ComfortPro Auxiliary Power Units on new trucks under a new agreement between Fontaine and the APU’s maker, Carrier Transicold. Customers will continue to purchase ComfortPro APUs exclusively through Carrier Transicold authorized dealers and can have them installed by Fontaine with minimal impact on the delivery process, Carrier said.

The arrangement allows trucks built at the OEM plant to be diverted to an adjacent intermediate manufacturing facility for ComfortPro APU installation by Fontaine. Upon completion, the chassis is re-inserted into the OEM freight system for delivery to the next or final destination with little or no additional freight or logistics costs, Carrier said. Fontaine has ship-through agreements in place with most truck production facilities in North America.

The ComfortPro APU provides climate control – both heating and air conditioning – as well as AC power supply, truck battery charging, engine warming and optional shore-power connectivity.
