Intermec introduced a software-based solution, Skynax R6, that provides a unified platform for mobile communications, data management, remote device management and security in mobile computing systems.
Intermec collaborated with GATC, a privately-held software development company and Intermec Premier Honours Partner, to create this new generation of software.
Skynax enables highly-scalable, fault-tolerant and secure mobile data communications through WWAN mobile phone networks, WLAN, wired Ethernet and dial-up connections. It leverages a distributed, server-based architecture to control the flow of business data–exchange and process files, remote query and manipulate records in an SQL database, and even streaming data–between mobile business applications and back-office business data repositories located in a company’s internal network, the company says.
In addition, complete, remote device management functionality is available within Skynax through a Microsoft Windows based management console. This allows IT managers to have central control over detailed handheld computer configurations, remotely install system and application software, and monitor end-to-end system performance. The “set and forget” feature means device settings are consistent and persistent throughout the mobile computing system.
Companies using Intermec’s 6920 Communications Server can take advantage of a specially designed Intermec Mobile Migration Plug-In that provides an easy migration path to this new Skynax platform. Skynax R6 with the Intermec Mobile Migration Plug-in is marketed and sold exclusively through Intermec.
