Pittsburgh-based Pitt Ohio Express was named the Overall Winner for Outstanding Achievement in Highway Safety in the State of Pennsylvania. The LTL carrier, which also placed first for general commodities carriers that log more than 15 million miles in the state, was honored in the annual awards presented by the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association and Great West Casualty Co.

The threshold consideration for the top award is the ratio of accident frequency to total miles driven. Other criteria include injury and loss prevention, hazardous materials management and compliance with DOT regulations. Ron Uriah, vice president of safety, and Dean Yockey, senior safety specialist, accepted the award at a banquet.
