Paccar Leasing Co. recently published a newsletter detailing how driver incentive programs can lead to better fuel economy and how PacTrac, PacLease’s telematics solution, can help enhance fleet management, help customers cut costs and improve driver productivity.
The newsletter is the latest in PacLease’s Trends & Outlooks series and examines driver incentive programs including driver orientations, driver scorecards and compensation packages. The goal of these programs is to reward drivers and improve fuel efficiency.
The newsletter also discusses how PacTrac uses GPS-based tracking, onboard voice and data communications, and Internet-based business systems to help provide useful information about the truck and driver to monitor fleet performance. Through PacTrac, operators and fleets have the tools to measure driver performance and help demonstrate the impact of fuel saving practices, PacLease says; drivers are able to see how well they are doing against targeted goals.
Olen Hunter, director of sales for Bellevue, Wash.-based PacLease, says that improved technology on today’s trucks is making it easier for fleets to work with drivers to increase fuel economy. “Onboard computers provide a wealth of information for fleet managers to employ fuel-saving tactics such as setting RPM thresholds, gear selection and governing speed,” Hunter says. “This newsletter discusses how customers can manage their human and vehicle assets more effectively.”
