Ford Motor Co. said an Illinois judge dismissed a lawsuit against the company by Navistar International Corp. over diesel engines Navistar supplies for the automaker’s pickup trucks, the Detroit Free Press reported Saturday, Sept. 8.
The newspaper reported that the two companies should enter mediation to resolve their dispute, according to a copy of the decision by Judge Dennis Burke in Cook County Circuit Court.
Navistar’s suit filed June 4 alleged that Ford violated a contract by developing its own diesel engine for the F-150 pickup truck. Navistar has been supplying diesel engines for Super Duty trucks since 1979, and its current contract with Ford runs through 2012.
