ALK Technologies, developers of worldwide transportation technology solutions, and the U.S. Department of Defense have announced the release of the PC Miler-based Defense Table of Official Distances, Version 21.1. This marks the eighth year that ALK has provided the standard distance calculation data and software used by the U.S. military, Defense Department contractors and the U.S. General Services Administration worldwide.

In conjunction with the DTOD 21.1 release, ALK announced the release of PC Miler 21.1 and PC Miler|Worldwide 21.1, commercial versions of DTOD for carriers and logistics companies to generate DTOD mileage. All North American motor carriers and logistics companies handling freight or personal property shipments for the Defense Department and GSA must use DTOD 21.1 to generate distances for payment and audit purposes. ALK says PC Miler|Worldwide and DTOD are the only two worldwide distance calculation software products currently available.

“DTOD 21.1 is based on PC Miler 21 software, the industry-standard technology used by the most successful shippers, carriers and logistics companies around the world,” says Kara Jo Witkowski, senior product manager for Princeton, N.J.-based ALK Technologies. “In version 21.1, the PC Miler database has been updated to the unequaled accuracy ALK customers expect. We’re pleased those customers include the U.S. Department of Defense, the General Services Administration and their contractors.”

DTOD is available on multiple hardware and software configurations and is accessible to authorized users over the Internet by the Defense Department. PC Miler Solutions also include PC Miler, PC Miler|Tolls, PC Miler|Streets, PC Miler|HazMat, PC Miler|FuelTax, PC Miler|Rail, PC Miler|Worldwide and CoPilot Truck.
