Cox to direct ODFL’s HR development

Old Dominion Freight Line on Tuesday, July 1, announced the addition of Dee Dee Cox as director of human resources development. In her new role, Cox will oversee management staff education and develop management training programs for recent college graduates, succession plans for employees, and employee turnover and retention strategies.

Prior to joining Old Dominion, Cox worked as a corporate training and development manager at Epes Carriers. In addition, she gained human resource experience at Pergo and Burlington Industries, where she spent 15 years as manager of human resources development.

“Dee Dee brings nearly two decades of human resource experience to Old Dominion,” says David Congdon, president and chief operating officer of the Thomasville, N.C-based less-than-truckload carrier. “Her certified knowledge will help train employees, especially recent college graduates, in their career paths and add value to our company.”

Cox has achieved her senior professional in human resources certification, showing her knowledge in functional areas of strategic management, work force planning and development, human resources development and other employee relations.
