Due to a crack found on the structure, the Leverette Circle Connector, part of Boston’s Big Dig project, now is restricted for all heavy truck travel. Maptuit Corp. announced Thursday, Sept. 4, that it reacted swiftly to restrict the connector from its navigation and routing services to trucks more than 40 tons.

The restriction — which is expected to remain in effect until Nov. 1 — applies to trucks leaving the Tobin Bridge and traveling southbound either to Interstate 93 and the Zakim Bridge or to Leverett Circle and Storrow Drive. Maptuit says its directions reflect this change.

“We are doing what is appropriate at this time, and we are now restricting this road segment for all our customers’ trucks,” says Jeff Papows, president and chief executive officer of Burlington, Mass.-based Maptuit. “Since this afternoon, our team has confirmed and have been updating our dynamic road network. We will continue to work with local and state officials and obtain the latest information, and reopen this segment of the network when it is safe to do so.”
