Penske Truck Leasing recently hosted the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art facility in Austin, Texas, located at 8800 S. Congress Ave. As part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Penske donated $1,000 to the Capital Area Food Bank toward Hurricane Ike relief efforts.

The 16,000-square-foot facility, employing 15 associates, offers commercial and consumer truck rental services, full-service truck leasing and contract maintenance. About 50 customers are serviced from this six-acre location, and more than 330 vehicles are maintained onsite. The structure features six vehicle service bays, a truck washing bay and a two-lane fuel island with high-speed fuel pumps.

The one-story building also incorporates Penske Truck Leasing’s new facility design elements intended to enhance the customer experience. Wireless technology at the facility enables Penske service technicians to integrate various vehicle diagnostic and repair software. To save energy and improve the environment, special light bulbs with ballasts using 50 percent less energy have been installed.

“Austin is one of Penske’s fastest-growing markets, and we are opening this facility to keep pace with customer demand,” says Terry Scott, senior vice president of the South Central region for Penske Truck Leasing, based in Reading, Pa. “In the city’s southern suburbs, we’re seeing new home construction and the economic uplifts accompanying families relocating to the Austin metropolitan area. We are now also better able to serve our customers in Buda, Kyle and San Marcos. I anticipate that Penske will be hiring additional associates as we further increase our market share of commercial and consumer business in the region.”
