Grote Industries says it has developed a modular power delivery and lighting system, complete from nose box to taillight. The Ultra-Blue-Seal harness system, paired with the company’s Ultra-Nose-Box receptacle and Grote’s portfolio of lighting products, provides a complete electrical and lighting platform for trailers, according to the company.
“Our modular power delivery system creates a sophisticated, durable weather-resistant electronic backbone for today’s demanding trailer manufacturers and fleets,” says Dominic Grote, vice president of sales and marketing for Madison, Ind.-based Grote Industries. “The system minimizes wiring mistakes and downtime, while maximizing fleet and worker performance.”
The Grote Ultra-Nose-Box is designed to solve the problem of cracked, corroded and crowded electrical junction boxes. The company says it features double the standard number of pin connections, a push-on plug function, a glass-filled nylon housing, replaceable parts and insert-molded pins designed to seal out moisture and corrosive materials. Also, molded, threaded brass inserts help ensure the nose box is locked down, while a special mounting gasket helps protect against moisture.
Complementing the Ultra-Nose-Box is Grote’s Ultra-Blue-Seal (UBS) harness system, which offers connection sealing characteristics, configuration flexibility and expansion capacity. The UBS connector system helps provide protection against weather, dirt and corrosion; Grote’s proprietary double seal technology features dual sealing rings designed to provide additional sealing power, while male pin lamp plugs are reinforced with banded terminals and a grease slot that helps keeps moisture out.
Grote says the flexible design of the UBS allows for many types of connections without having to change the entire harness system; the system is easy to expand, because all the plugs use the same UBS sealing technology. The UBS seal also helps keep critical connections and components from corroding, even in the toughest road conditions, according to the company.
