Getloaded.com has launched its new Rate Index feature, designed to allow transportation companies and truckers to measure the profitability of truck lanes. Rate Index will track critical data of more than 12 million truckload lanes for 1,200 major North American market areas, according to the company.

Getloaded.com says the new tool, which launched Jan 1, breaks down the most profitable truckload lanes by analyzing the average rate per mile, minimum rate per mile, maximum rate per mile, average fuel surcharge per mile and average accessorial charges. The feature helps transportation professionals target where they want to haul freight based on the money generated by certain routes, allowing them to negotiate better rates to maximize their profits.

“For the past nine years, we have provided easy access to information on Getloaded.com,” says Bryan Jones, president of the Midlothian, Va.-based company. “As we move forward, we want to empower our members by giving them more tools. In these tough economic times, it is vital for both carriers and brokers to have as much information as possible to negotiate better prices. Rate Index gives them the ability to have the average rate in mind prior to getting to the table.”
