Kenworth Truck Co. announced that a pocket innerspring mattress is now standard on lower bunks in all new Class 8 trucks equipped with sleepers. The Kirkland, Wash.-based company says it added the mattress as a standard feature in response to recommendations from Kenworth customers.

“An over-the-road driver must remain alert in order to deal with the job’s many demands,” says Gary Moore, Kenworth assistant general manager for marketing and sales. Studies published by the National Sleep Foundation report that proper rest is critical to maintaining alertness, and using a comfortable and supportive mattress is one of several key steps to getting that rest, Moore says.

“The addition of the premium mattress makes Kenworth trucks an even more compelling choice for owner-operators and fleets looking for trucks that offer drivers a comfortable and productive work environment,” Moore says.
