Mobile video surveillance provider Safety Vision has hired Dr. Tao Wu as lead embedded software designer for the company’s evolving line of mobile digital video recorder systems. Wu, who is fluent in English and Chinese, brings extensive hands-on experience with major network protocol design and implementation, as well as embedded operating systems, most recently with Samsung Information Systems America.

“I expect that Tao will blaze new trails in embedded software design for the mobile recording industry,” says Chris Fritz, chief technology officer of Houston-based Safety Vision. “Thanks to his electronics expertise, our solutions should set ever-higher industry standards for efficiency, simplicity, reliability and interoperability. Others may struggle to ‘keep up’ in the dynamic, technologically sophisticated mobile surveillance environment. Not Safety Vision — with Tao’s help, we’ll be advancing the technology, focused on anticipating tomorrow’s directions while meeting today’s needs.”

While working toward his doctorate, Wu earned several awards, grants and fellowships. He also has authored roughly 20 journal and conference papers and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the world’s leading professional association for the advancement of technology.
