ALK Technologies on Thursday, Feb. 5, announced that John White, president of U.S. Xpress, will deliver the keynote address at the 2009 ALK Transportation Technology Summit. The event brings together senior transportation executives and industry thought leaders to share the latest strategies on how to leverage technology to continue to move transportation forward.

Now in its fifth year, the ALK Transportation Technology Summit will be held April 20-22 in Princeton, N.J. The three-day event includes a golf outing at the Tournament Player’s Club-Jasna Polana in Princeton, and a dinner reception on the Princeton University campus. The conference, themed “Driving Cost Control and Safety through Technology,” will provide transportation, logistics and manufacturing companies guidance on how to maximize operational efficiencies in this difficult economy.

ALK Founder and Chairman, Dr. Alain Kornhauser, will lead off the program. Kornhauser is a professor of operations research and financial engineering, as well as the director of the transportation program at Princeton University. He is a pioneer in GPS navigation and routing technology for consumers, mobile professionals and motor carriers. This year, ALK Technologies celebrates 30 years of providing transportation and navigation software solutions.

White will provide the keynote assessing the trucking industry outlook: “One Year Later.” U.S. Xpress is a subsidiary of U.S. Xpress Enterprises, the nation’s sixth-largest truckload carrier. White has more than 20 years of experience in the transportation industry.

This thought leader symposium will offer discussions with senior executives and customers of industry providers. Presentations and roundtables will address key challenges facing the industry today. Topics include driver performance and operating cost management, improving safety and supply chain efficiency, as well as innovations in wireless technology and in-cab solutions.

With a format consisting of seminars, case studies, facilitated roundtables and networking, participants will receive the opportunity to debate, benchmark and learn from other leaders. Sponsors of the ALK Transportation Technology Summit include Cadec, DriverTech, EBE Technologies, Innovative Computing Corp., Intermec, Oracle, PeopleNet, Qualcomm, SMC3, TMW Systems, TransCore Link Logistics and Xata Corp. ALK says the forum of transportation management and mobile communications systems suppliers offers a wealth of information for transportation and information technology companies seeking to survive the recession — and emerge from it stronger.
