The Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation on Friday, Feb. 13, officially launched a new website, www.intellidrive.org, to promote the goals of the IntelliDrive program.

USDOT says the IntelliDrive program combines leading-edge technologies – advanced wireless communications, onboard computer processing, advanced vehicle sensors, GPS navigation, smart infrastructure and others – to provide the capability for vehicles to identify threats and hazards on the roadway and communicate this information over wireless networks to give drivers alerts and warnings.

Visitors to the website also can sign up to become Friends of IntelliDrive by visiting the “Email Updates” page under “Program Information.” Friends of IntelliDrive will receive e-mails on the latest program updates.
