Illinois State Rep. LaShawn Ford (D-Chicago) told the Mid-West Truckers Association that he would not call a bill that would have doubled state truck registration fees and the Commercial Distribution Fee (CDF), MTA said Thursday, Feb. 19.

MTA said Ford met with the group Wednesday, Feb. 18, and told them he will not seek any further action on HB 448. This comes after the House Transportation Committee did not call the bill for consideration earlier in the afternoon, according to MTA.

MTA said Ford indicated that he had received hundreds of calls from truck operators, and that members of the House Transportation Committee also said they had received many calls in opposition to the bill.
