Xata Corp., a provider of fleet operations optimization, announced that Heyl Truck Lines is installing Xata Navigation, powered by ALK CoPilot Truck, in its trucks enabled with new TREQ color display units (CDUs). The Akron, Iowa-based company, which specializes in both temperature-controlled and dry commodities, says it places a strong emphasis on customer service and uses MobileMax by Xata to help run its fleet more efficiently.

“Safe operations, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction are our company’s hallmarks,” says Alan Heyl, chief executive officer of Heyl Truck Lines. “MobileMax by Xata helps us live up to these tenets that we base our business upon. We look forward to expanding our relationship with Xata. The addition of enhanced navigation on the new color displays will help us run our fleet operations even more efficiently.”

Xata Navigation is designed to provide Heyl drivers with spoken turn-by-turn directions, as well as with way points for fuel stops. Leveraging the TREQ CDU also will enable spoken messages to drivers, allowing them to keep their eyes on the road for increased safety, Xata says; additionally, if a driver misses a turn, Xata Navigation will re-route them immediately, without the need to download new instructions from a server.

“We’re pleased that Heyl Truck Lines finds value in extending its relationship with Xata because of our commitment to adding the types of important functionality that meet our customers’ ongoing business needs,” says David Gagne, executive vice president of Minneapolis-based Xata Corp. “Xata’s latest navigation upgrade is ideally suited to providing Heyl with the tools to carry out their commitment to safety, on-time operations and customer satisfaction.”
