Bendix names Johnson VP/aftermarket sales, marketing

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, a North American provider of active safety and brake system technologies, recently promoted Bob Johnson to vice president of aftermarket sales and marketing. Johnson succeeds John Flad, a 26-year commercial vehicle aftermarket veteran who retired from Bendix on March 31. Flad held the top aftermarket post at Bendix for more than a decade.

In his new role, Johnson will develop and lead the Bendix aftermarket sales and marketing effort, with a focus on driving and maintaining strong customer relations; leading effective partnerships throughout the distribution channel; and developing programs aimed at capitalizing on new and existing business opportunities to support continuous profitable business growth.

Johnson, who began his career with Bendix in 1989, has progressed through a variety of marketing and sales positions in Elyria and the commercial vehicle aftermarket, including his appointment as aftermarket sales regional director for the Southern region in 2007. Most recently, he was named director of marketing and communications, a role in which he was responsible for generating and coordinating programs and promotions, managing the launch of new aftermarket products and identifying new business opportunities within the North American aftermarket segment. A greenbelt and ASE brake-certified, Johnson is a graduate of the Bendix Strategic Leadership Program and a three-time recipient of the President’s Club Award, honoring top Bendix account managers.
