Lakeville Motor Express announced Wednesday, April 15, that Al Bucher has been named president. Bucher, who has served as executive vice president for the past year, will assume his new duties effective immediately. He succeeds Peter Martin, who retired this past March.

Bucher, who joined the less-than-truckload company in 2003 as vice president of sales and marketing, has 30 years of experience in the transportation industry and has held positions in operations, sales and executive management.

“Al Bucher is one of those rare individuals who has the right mix of personality, integrity and knowledge, combined with a natural understanding of people,” says John Wren, chief executive officer of LME, based in New Brighton, Minn. “I believe that Al’s inspired leadership and relaxed management style, together with his deep understanding of our company and his boundless energy and proven ability, will allow us to continue to further LME’s emphasis on being a ‘customer solutions’ provider in the marketplace.”
