AT&T to offer Xora’s GPS Locator

AT&T has extended its industry-specific location-based mobile business applications with the addition of Xora’s GPS Locator, an application designed to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMMEs) keep track of mobile employees.

GPS Locator, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application, is aimed at helping AT&T business customers improve the productivity and accountability of employees in the field while also reducing overtime and fuel costs. It is compatible with most AT&T mobile devices, the company says.

The service will become available at the end of July. AT&T says GPS Locator runs without the need for any additional software on the phone; field-based employees simply power on their mobile devices, and office staff can see their locations using Xora’s Web-based maps and reports.

The Xora Web interface features Google Maps complete with street, satellite and hybrid views, as well as real-time traffic information. Web-based reports indicate where and when vehicles are stopped, and for how long, making it easy to identify time spent at jobsites or on breaks.

AT&T is targeting GPS Locator at SMMEs in construction, field services, transportation and distribution; state and local government are also potential users.
