The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has honored Exel with its 2008 Wingfoot Fleet of the Year award, which recognizes and rewards carriers for outstanding performance in a given year. The award is based on achievements against specific performance measures, including:

  • Percentage of shipments delivered successfully with no claims;
  • Percentage of loads shipped in accordance with plant allocations;
  • Percentage of loads accepted through the transportation management system for lanes where rates have been submitted; and
  • Survey score – A calculation based on average of surveys received during current month from shipping/receiving locations.
  • The Wingfoot Fleet of the Year award recognizes Exel’s facility in Stockbridge, Ga., which provides dedicated delivery service to Goodyear dealers and customers in the Southeast region. The customized solution transports passenger and commercial tires, and Goodyear customers receive the benefits of a consistent, experienced driver and product handling according to their specifications.

    “It is really our process and people that make the difference,” says Lewis Colbert, director of operations at Exel, based in Westerville, Ohio. “This is the second time the Stockbridge facility has earned this award, so we are proud to continue to deliver on behalf of a leading customer like Goodyear.”

    On behalf of Goodyear, Exel handles about 130 to 150 loads per day out of five facilities, 30 of which are managed at the Stockbridge site.
