YRC Inc., a subsidiary of YRC Worldwide, announced the launch of YRC Residential Solutions, which the company describes as a “white glove” service that makes it simple for businesses to deliver large shipments directly to consumer home and work locations. The new service is designed to enable YRC customers to tap into its network, as well as expert “final mile” delivery agents, to ensure shipments arrive at consumer destinations reliably and efficiently.
“In the past, residential deliveries of large shipments — such as exercise equipment, furniture and flat-screen televisions — have posed a host of challenges for retailers due to the specialized expertise, personnel and equipment required,” says Mike Smid, president of YRC Inc. and chief operations officer of YRC Worldwide, based in Overland Park, Kan. “YRC Residential Solutions answers those challenges like no other home delivery company or LTL provider can, and helps our customers ultimately be more successful through time savings and an improved delivery experience for the end consumer.”
Through a strategic partnership with STI, a residential delivery specialist that handles more than 100,000 residential and commercial deliveries annually, YRC will pick up large shipments for delivery across the nationwide YRC network to one of 162 STI locations; the last leg of the deliveries — the “final mile” — is managed by STI. As part of this collaboration, YRC Residential Solutions says it offers complete business-to-consumer shipping solutions to all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico.
