Wabash National Corp. announced that its DuraPlate Products Group has launched the DuraPlate AeroSkirt, a new aerodynamic accessory for semi-trailers that has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay program. According to the company, testing has verified that a trailer equipped with the DuraPlate AeroSkirt can provide 5.6 percent of fuel savings and a 6 percent efficiency improvement.
Drawing on the DuraPlate composite panel, the DuraPlate AeroSkirt features a trailer side skirt design designed to flex both inward and outward to help reduce damage. Wabash says the DuraPlate AeroSkirt also is easy to install, can be attached to various model trailers, and has the durability of the DuraPlate composite panel.
