The Federal Highway Administration announced that it will award $2 million in “Highways for Life” grants to test and evaluate highway technologies that are ready for implementation. FHWA says it will look for innovative approaches and technologies that improve work zone safety, reduce congestion due to road construction, and improve and accelerate construction.

For-profit, private companies and industries, and nonprofit domestic and international organizations can apply. FHWA encourages partnership with state and local governments and academic institutions. For more information on the program and previous awards, go to www.fhwa.dot.gov/hfl/tech.cfm.
