Penske Truck Leasing finds early success with eBay Motors

Less than two weeks have passed since Penske Truck Leasing announced the availability of direct-to-consumer used commercial truck sales through eBay Motors. The online marketplace has already shown promising results, the company announced.

Through eBay Motors, Penske is offering visitors the opportunity to bid on a full-range of vehicles, including light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, utility trucks, buses and sedans.

The company started out by selling heavy-duty vehicles on eBay Motors locally in the Redding, Penn. marketplace. The plan is to expand presence on a national scale, with “mini eBay centers” around the country, says Jack Mitchell, vice president – Remarketing, Penske Truck Leasing.

During early pilot tests, Penske has averaged over 600 unique views per vehicle on eBay Motors. “You can’t ask for anything more than that,” says Brandie Searle, director of Interactive Marketing.

The company’s main online channel for selling used trucks, PenskeUsedTrucks.com, receives on average 3,500 page views daily with an inventory of nearly 7,000 pieces of equipment, the company says.
