Alanco Technologies Inc. announced Monday, Oct. 5, that its StarTrak Systems subsidiary, a leading provider of wireless monitoring and management data services for the refrigerated transportation industry, has entered into a four-year contract valued in excess of $3 million with FFE Transportation Services Inc., a provider of refrigerated transportation and logistics services, for fleetwide deployment of StarTrak’s ReeferTrak reefer monitoring and management services.

StarTrak says the new contract will commence immediately to outfit about 2,500 of FFE’s refrigerated trailers with StarTrak’s new ReeferTrak RT-6000 communicator/modem. StarTrak also will provide FFE with its extensive menu of reefer network management and control data services over an initial four-year period.

FFE says it chose the ReeferTrak service primarily due to the platform’s automatic delivery of critical information to FFE central operations, including real-time temperature profiles against cargo set points, refueling verification, assessorial measurements, out-of-route monitoring, critical load information, trailer inventory management and other relevant operational data.

StarTrak and FFE first partnered in 2005 to pioneer the management of highly sensitive refrigerated specialty product freight shipments, with FFE initially implementing StarTrak’s satellite-based communicating network system. StarTrak says the new fleetwide ReeferTrak deployment will be an advanced cellular-based solution that provides vastly increased benefits and unprecedented flexibility. FFE says it has strived to extend the focus of its operations from the management of the driver to the management of the shipment, and this objective will be enhanced significantly through this new investment in advanced technology.

“Our long-term relationship with StarTrak was founded on our commitment to best-in-practice technology innovation and leadership in refrigerated transport,” says Mit Stubbs, president and chief executive officer of FFE. “Our fleetwide adoption of ReeferTrak further illustrates our mutual desire to continue to improve refrigerated freight solutions for the transportation and logistics industry. Our goal as always is to deliver the best service in the industry to our customers.”
