Rair Technologies (www.rair.com) introduced a Web-based process that enables an immediate comparison of a driver’s record-of-duty status and the GPS polling history. On Dec. 24, 2008, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration issued a memorandum stating that it considers GPS a supporting document for hours-of-service compliance and – in a reversal of a 12-year-old policy – now routinely will rely on GPS location data in conducting compliance reviews.
