The Teamsters said it began negotiations with ABF on Thursday, April 8, to address the company’s request for economic relief. The union said the negotiations, which began after getting input from members and local union leaders, follow a meeting that took place the week of March 22, during which a subcommittee of the Teamsters National Freight Industry Negotiating Committee exchanged information with ABF representatives and engaged in preliminary discussions about the company’s financial needs.
The Teamsters says its members and local union leaders support negotiations. “Our paramount duty in these negotiations is to protect the jobs and benefits of the 7,000 Teamsters at ABF,” the union said via a press statement.
